Everybody seems to be well settled into school at this stage and the school is, as usual, buzzing with activity. A special welcome to our new First Year students who have already become a very important part of our school community and to our Sixth year students as they start their final year in the school.
The Religion Department has been extremely busy as usual since the school reopened. This year they have chosen another beautiful religious theme to guide the spiritual development of students and staff. The theme this year is; “He holds each of us in the palm of His hand”, a theme that captures both our individual uniqueness and the security that God offers each one of us. The Opening of the Year Mass will take place on Wednesday, September 18 in the Cathedral.
Congratulations to the Leaving Certificate Class 2013; the results were excellent and a testament to the hard work and terrific attendance all year. The school wishes the girls all the best as they journey forward now on whichever pathway they have chosen.
The Junior Certificate Class 2013 received results this week and they too excelled, well done to all the girls and best of luck as you continue your studies.
Auditions are in their final stages and students are eager to get started on this year’s exciting musical. Jesus Christ Superstar has been chosen for this year and the girls are overjoyed at the prospect of learning all the beautiful songs featured in the musical. As final auditions are to take place this week there is a huge air of anticipation until we discover who has clenched the much coveted roles. Good luck to all those auditioning.
Transition Year students have been bonding as a group over the last few weeks. Their day trip to University of Limerick Outdoor Activity Centre in Killaloe was particularly successful as they girls got the opportunity to try lots of daring activities while getting to know each other. No doubt it was only the first of many new learning experiences for this group.
First Year Sports Day
Luckily the sun shone as the whole First Year group participated in Sports Day. The girls had a great day playing games, working in teams and meeting students from other class groups. There were lots of fun games as well as sports so the students really did enjoy the day. Well done to everyone for participating.
Sixth Year students have been very busy organising Mission Day 2013 in aid of Ursuline missions in Kenya. This year they have decided on a Disney theme so there will be lots of princesses, mice and wicked witches floating around on Monday. The students have worked very hard to design games, prepare treats and source costumes so it will undoubtedly be a great success.
