The rounders tournament is one of the highlights of the summer term in UCT each year. The teams are parish based, with teams from all over the county and beyond competing to win the title of rounders champions. Parish teams consist of members representing each school year – first year up as far as sixth year, with some staff members also togging out each year! At Junior Cycle, students are also given the opportunity to play each other in class groups.
Matches are played every day during lunch time and students have the opportunity to hone their skills in their weekly PE class. The tournament culminates with the championship final, which is one of the most colourful and hotly anticipated sporting events of the school year.
The rivalry is fierce but the parish pride is clear for everyone to see. It is a great way to mix with other years in the school while also having great fun. There is a place for everyone in the annual rounders tournament – players, coaches, team managers, mascots and cheerleaders
