The Music Department of the Ursuline Secondary School is proud to facilitate two orchestral ensembles: Intermediate Orchestra, comprised of students from first to third year, and Senior Orchestra, an ensemble for students from Senior Cycle and advanced players from Junior Cycle.
Both Orchestras undertake an annual examination with the Royal Irish Academy. Senior Orchestra competes regularly at Feis Ceoil. Our orchestras take part in all religious services, our Christmas Carol Service and perform every May at our Musical Evening. Orchestras perform repertoire of varying genres including classical, pop, traditional Irish and music from stage and screen. Advanced senior players join the professional orchestra that accompanies our annual School Musical.
Here at UCT we believe that ensemble playing is vital part of every instrumentalist’s musical development. There is an opportunity for students of all levels, from beginners to advanced players, to participate in an orchestral ensemble.
