Each year, our Transition Year students are afforded the opportunity to stage a drama, which is then enacted as part of the Tipperary Drama Festival in Holycross, each March. The school has enjoyed great success in this over the years, taking Best Overall Play on several occasions. The production is optional, but is closely linked to the Drama module that all students engage with as part of the Transition Year studies.
The plays normally accommodate a cast of more than twenty students, while others are given the chance to be involved in the production working with props and costumes, poster design, sound and lights, and helping out on the day. Being part of the drama is a wonderful experience, with students seeing it as a real opportunity to challenge themselves, and taking part certainly equips them with confidence and skills that last long after the curtain comes down.
Speech & Drama
Speech & Drama tuition is available with Ms Mary Purcell and students are trained to develop clear, articulate voices and confidence in the presentation of set works. They are encouraged to take L.A.M.D.A., I.B.S.D. and/or Leinster School examinations.
Students are also prepared for Feis work, auditions and interviews.
