Camogie is an integral part of the sporting life in UCT. Since 2014 the school has competed in Junior and Senior A Munster Colleges camogie competitions. This followed All Ireland success in the Sevens Colleges competition.
First years compete in separate Munster and Tipperary school camogie competitions. Training takes place weekly on the grass pitch in the school grounds. Camogie highlights in recent years include being crowned Munster Senior A champions for the first time in the schools history in Jan 2017 and again in 2020, 2023 & 2024 as well as Junior A champions in 2015 and 2017.
Camogie 2024
Munster Final Winners
The Ursuline Senior Camogie team retained their Munster A title in early January, 2024. In a very tight, all Thurles Final the girls, led by joint-captains Aoife Bourke and Kate Ferncombe beat the Presentation by a single score, 1-11 to 0-11.
Senior All Ireland Finalists
After beating Presentation Athenry in the semi-final the Senior A Camogie team faced the formidable Loreto Kilkenny. While the Ursuline Senior players gave it their all and left their hearts and guts on the GAA grounds in Rathdowney it was to be Loreto’s day, taking the Senior A All Ireland Camogie cup back to the marble city for the ninth time.
School camogie brings together girls not alone from different clubs but different counties who in school proudly wear the red and blue Ursuline Thurles jersey. Camogie welcomes all players, those looking for serious competitive action and those who enjoy the fresh air and chat while having a few pucks.
