The much anticipated White Tache Bash is scheduled to take place on Monday , February 10. The day is being organised by a Transition Year group who are competing in the Dairy Council’s Milk It! Competition to highlight the importance of dairy as part of a healthy diet. The event will hopefully encourage students to become card carrying members of the White Tache Brigade. Milk and moustache related fun and games are to take place in the sports complex for an hour. There will be a milk table quiz, word searches, famous moustache games and many more fun events. The organisers of the event are Mollie Kavangh, Aine Coman, Maeve Carew and Lucy Hayes.

The junior team finally hit the field last week to play the Munster junior B final, the match had been previously postponed twice owing to bad weather conditions. The girls took on Colaiste Dun Iascaigh from Cahir in Loughmore. The match was close throughout with both teams battling valiantly for the title, however the Cahir side managed to edge ahead in the second half and finished with a three point lead. The final score was Ursuline 2-5 to Cahir 1-11. Well done to the players and to their coach, Ms Hogan, and assistant coach, Ms O’Friel.

It was an important week for the Senior A team as they headed to Cork to face Mount Mercy in the Cup Semi-final. Both teams played with impressive determination and the match remained scoreless until near the end of the game. Both teams were well matched with ferocious defending and courageous efforts at goals, the winning score came from a short corner in the last few minutes of the match when Mount Mercy found the back of the net. Unfortunately there just was not enough time for the Ursuline girls to respond and the victory belonged to Mount Mercy.

The Second Year B Cup team also played this week against Laurel Hill Secondary School and had a great win, scoring eight goals while Laurel Hill failed to score on this occasion. The Junior B2 team also took on Laurel Hill; it was a tough match with Laurel Hill getting the better of the Ursuline team by scoring two goals to their single goal. The First Year Yellow team faced Laurel Hill on the same day; they showed great skill as they scored three goals against the Laurel Hill team. The final score was 3-0 in favour of the Ursuline. Senior C also played Laurel Hill but the team was unfortunate to be beaten by a goal, Laurel Hill managed to score two goals against the Ursuline’s single goal. The Second Year B1 team took on the Presentation Secondary School, Thurles. It was a challenging match with the Ursuline taking victory with a 3-2 score.
