MASS OF THE GIFTS

Currently the Departments of Religious Education, Art and Music are busy organising the Mass of the Gifts. The Charities Committee has been collecting student contributions for the annual hampers that will be presented to St Vincent de Paul before Christmas. The mass takes place on Monday, December 16 in the Cathedral at 12 o’clock.

ADVENT PRAYERS

In preparation for the birth of Jesus, Advent prayers are being said by different year groups over the Intercom, there have been beautiful reflections and music to remind us of the real meaning of Christmas.

XFACTOR

Last week the final heats for the Ursuline XFactor took place with a tremendous array for talent. The final will take place on Friday, December 20. Best of luck to those in the final.

TRANSITION YEAR

FILM WORKSHOP

The Young Irish Film Makers facilitated TY film workshops last week. The course is very comprehensive with students generating script ideas, writing scripts, learning about camera and lighting techniques, filming scenes and finally digitally editing the filmed material.

CBS MUSICAL

Twelve Ursuline students took part in the CBS musical this week; Our House. The entire Transition Year group attended the matinee on Thursday to support their classmates.

ATHLETICS

County Schools Cross Country; Overall winners for the tenth year.

The Minor team of Claire Rafter, Niamh Rafter, Erika Carroll, Tara Walsh, Shannon Daly and Tegan Kelly took gold medals in the team event. In the Junior girls’ race the Ursuline team of Zoe Fitzgibbon, Avril Quirke, Jasmine Curran, Eimear Ryan, Jo Madden and Hazel McEnery finished in bronze medal position in the 1500m race. In the 2000m Intermediate race Eimear Loughman, Aoife Delargy, Susie Osborne, Aoife Booth, Jenny Morrissey and Brona Dowling ran very well; finishing in silver and bronze positions while Eimear clinched fourth place. On the Senior team Eileen Rafter finished in first place with Orla Healy coming in fourth place while Teresa Ryan finished fifth and Sarah McNamara finished eighth. The team accumulated a total of ten points to take the overall victory on the day. The girls will now progress to the Munster Schools Cross Country after Christmas.
