On Wednesday, April 26, we sent a team of 20 girls to the Tipperary Championships.
Our senior girl, Emily Davidson, came away with gold in the long jump with a jump not far off 5 metres.
Lorna Ryan, representing the minors, had a great win in the shot putt, throwing 9.86m. She also made the final of the 100m. The relay team of Lorna, Emma Murphy, Sophie Moynihan, Claire Fitzgerald and Laura Coonan won the silver in the 4 x 100m in 59.74. Aisling O’Reilly brought home 2 bronze medals with 2.39 in 800m and 1m35 in the high jump. Gabrielle Morrissey and Sophie Moynihan represented us in the Minor 800m.
Réiltín Morrissey won bronze in the shot putt with 7m94 and Sarah Mc Ginley, in the same competition, threw 8m23 to bring home silver. Sarah became our first ever student to compete in the Discus event with a throw of 16m82. We had very strong representation in the long jump at junior level with Ruth Phelan winning silver, (3m76), Katie Coonan winning bronze (3m60), Aisliing O'Reilly (3m56) and Rachel Kelly (3m14)

Gabrielle Morrissey jumped just under 3m in the minor final. Lucy Duggan finished in 4th place with a jump of 1m30 in the High Jump. our Junior team of Rachel Phelan, Eleanor Doyle, Aisling O'Reilly, Lucy Duggan finished in fourth place in the 4 x 100m junior final, just outside the medals in a time of 57 seconds.
Aoibheann Fogarty and Lucia Duran ran in the intermediate 800m. Roisin Ferncombe had a good run in the 800m junior race. Other competitors in the 100m included Laura Hales and Mary Ryan.
Our next outing will be the South East Munsters, Wednesday May 3, in Templemore.
