The Lion King Junior

Thanks to everyone who made this year’s Ursuline School Show, The Lion King Junior, a resounding success. The commitment given by those involved, in the weeks leading up to the October mid-term break, made this musical one of the more memorable Ursuline productions. The young cast gave it their all during each and every performance and were rewarded with standing ovations by delighted audiences each night. It was really something special to be able to take to the stage following a two-year absence due to Covid-19. Such an immense under-taking could not happen without the generosity of staff who contributed in a huge variety of ways. Finally, a special word of acknowledgement for the enormous dedication of those directly responsible for bringing the African plains, the wild exotic animals of the pride-lands and the magical score of Hans Zimmer, Elton John and Nick Glennie-Smith to life in the Sr Ursula Memorial Hall in Thurles for four glorious nights.

First Year Camogie

Just before the mid-term break three Ursuline First Year Camogie teams togged out for a series of friendly matches with their counterparts from the Pres Thurles. There was lots of skill and enthusiasm shown by the youngest players from both schools. Thanks to the Presentation for three great games. There is certainly plenty of up and coming talent to keep the camogie traditions of Pres and Ursuline alive and well in the years ahead.

First Year Hockey

Many of the First Year Hockey players made their Ursuline debut on Thursday, 27 October when they participated in their first blitz played between two Limerick venues, the Crescent Secondary School and Catholic Institute Club. The yellow, blue, green and orange teams played their hearts out with very successful results that included 11 wins, 4 draws and 3 losses. Well done to all players and coaches involved.

Munster Hockey

Aoife Kavanagh, Fifth Year, lined out for the Munster U18s against Connacht on Sunday, 6 November in Catholic Institute, Limerick and helped her province to victory. Aoife set up the second goal with a drag off short corner. Well done to Aoife and her Munster team-mates on their 5-1 victory last weekend.
