Junior A Hockey
The Junior A team had a great start to the season today, winning 5-0 against Laurel Hill Colaiste in their first league game. Goal scorers on the day were Aoife Kavanagh (3) and Isobel Larkin (2). It was a super team performance and was brilliant to see the girls back in competitive action!
The Senior As played out a hard fought battle against Laurel Hill Colaiste today in the Ursuline. Anna McCartan sealed the 1-0 win with a goal on the far post in the last quarter after a series of UCT attacks. Laurel Hill Colaiste were the better side in the first quarter winning several corners which were brilliantly dealt with by the UCT defence to keep the score at 0-0.
The longer the match went on the more UCT players confidence grew & began to stamp their authority on the game in the 3rd quarter with some lovely link up play & shots from Aoife Kavanagh, Rachel Barry, Lucy Kavanagh & Rosie Farrell. In the dying minutes Laurel Hill attacked down the right & crossed for a player in front of goal who swept it first time at the goal only for Annabelle Ryan to make a magnificent save & managed to clear the ball out wide.
A very tough opening game for UCT Senior As with several players making their Senior A debut & all contributed to ensuring UCT got the win.
