Minor Football
The Ursuline Minor Gaelic footballers secured a semi-final
spot in the Munster A SchoolsChampionship on Wednesday, 3 December. They beat Loreto Clonmel by 0-8 points in an end to end game. Credit to Clonmel for battling right back into the game near the end of half time and there was nothing between the sides until the final few minutes when Caoimhe Heaney 1-1 and Edie Connellan 1-0 gave UCT some daylight. Shona Murray, Lauren Lonergan, Aoife Moran and Jennifer Collins covered every blade of grass and this was pivotal to the success of the team. Grace Fennelly was superb in defence and Saoirse Heaneygave an outstanding performance. Other scorers included Holly McNamara 3-1, Bríd Quinn 2-0, Kate Gaule 2-0, Aoife Moran 2-0 and Aifric Mockler 0-2.
Well done to all players for the dedication shown throughout. Best wishes to them and their coaches MsMcGrath and MrMcLoughlin as they march on to the semi-final to be played Christmas.

Hockey
Congrats to the Ursuline Minor C2 team who had a great win over Crescent Comprehensive last week. The girls showed great determination to come back from 1-0 down at half time. The second half saw two very skilful goals from Gemma Power and Patrice Quirke topped it off with a great goal to make it a 3-1 win. A wonderful team performance all over the pitch.
Well done to the Ursuline Junior Cs who beat Crescent in their recent league encounter. These Junior girls have worked so hard at training in the last month focusing on their passing, their tackling and their finishing. So many of these aspects were on show in the game against Crescent and every single player contributed to the win. That’s two wins in two weeks from this group in their last game before Christmas. Well done to everyoneand keep up the good work.
It was a tough day out for the Ursuline Seniors against the Presentation Thurles in the Munster Hockey league last week. Pres came away with a 0-1 win over UCT despite a great Ursuline showing.
The girls played their socks off from start to finish, displayed unbelievable heart, teamwork and determination.A special shoutout to captain Lily Duffy, who led with strength and composure.
On Thursday, 4 December the Ursuline welcomed Irish International Hockey star, Caoimhe Perdue, ahead of the the firstever Women’s Pro League game to be held in Dublin on the 10 December against Belgium. Caoimhe took a session with fifty enthusiastic Ursuline hockey players and shared her expertise. She also did a Q&A session afterwards and described what a typical training week is like for her in the International set up and as a semi professional athlete playing for Rotterdam in Holland. The Netherlands is regarded as having one of the best national hockey leagues in the world. Caoimhe was inspirational throughout and left a very big impression on the UCT players. Thank you to her for taking the time to visit. Everyone in the Ursuline be cheering her on when she lines out for Ireland against Belgium on 10 December.
