Leaving Cert results day in the Ursuline

Congratulations to the Ursuline Leaving Certificate Class of 2025 on their incredible results. As a year group they worked exceptionally hard throughout their Senior Cycle years and there were certainly a lot of happy faces on Friday, 22 August, when many called into the School with their parents. They thanked their teachers and some made appointments with Career Guidance teachers, Ms Walsh and Ms Golden, to discuss options, now the results were in. There was great excitement for three students in particular who achieved the maximum 625 points, Mairéad O’Brien, Lanna Frawley and Clodagh Twomey. Clodagh actually achieved a phenomenal 8 H1s. Everyone at UCT wishes all of the Class of 2025 every success in the future and hopes they will be happy, healthy and fulfilled whatever they decide to do in life.

Senior A Hockey

The Ursuline Senior Hockey players participated in a pre-season tournament in Cork Harlequins Hockey Club just before the return to school. They had games against Munster U18, Connacht U18, Bandon and St Angela’s. It was an excellent start to the season and a great bonding session after the summer holiday break. Thanks to the twenty-four girls, from TY to Sixth Year, who travelled to Cork and to Senior Hockey Coach, Ms Fahey, for organising it. Best of luck to them in the season ahead.

Return to School

After the a lovely, relaxing summer the inevitable return to school began with Sixth Years coming back to the Ursuline on Thursday, 21 August. Gradually over the week all year groups started the academic year 2025/2026. Here’s hoping they will all have a productive and enjoyable year ahead. A special shout out to the newest arrivals, the First Years, who started on Wednesday 27 August. They were welcomed by Principal, Ms Gleeson and were introduced to their class tutors. Fingers crossed they will be happy in UCT and the whole school community is there to support them on their transition to secondary school.

Equestrian

Well done to Ursuline Fifth Year student, Carla Williamson, who represented Ireland at the FEI Junior European Eventing Championships in Poland last week. What a fantastic achievement for her and she did herself, her family, her country and her school proud.
