CAMOGIE ALL-IRELAND 7-ASIDE CHAMPIONS

On Saturday, October 19 2013, the junior camogie team brought great honour to the school by winning the All-Ireland 7s Junior Final.

To win the title, three victories were required. The first match against St Patrick’s, Keady got the girls off to a great start. The Ursuline girls kept St Patrick’s goalkeeper on her toes, finding the back of the net seven times while also scoring nine points to St Patrick’s 2-5.

It was then the turn of Borris Vocational School, Carlow to take on the impressive Ursuline side. Again the Ursuline girls turned every opportunity into a score; by the final whistle the girls had scored 4-9 to 3-6.

The Ursuline girls faced St Patrick’s again in the final. Although they had previously beaten this team, the final proved a different type of game with St Patrick’s hungry for victory and determined not to be beaten again. However, when the final whistle sounded it was the Ursuline team who had the lead by three points and they had become the All-Ireland Champions; final score 1-6 to 1-3.
