All-Ireland Interschools Hunter Trials 2014

On Saturday 15th March 2014, the UCT Equestrian Teams took to the hills of Curracruit, Muine Bheag for a day of competing, excitement and fun. With many of the students having a 4 a.m. start, a long day was foreseen. However, the weather was on our side which aided the brilliant displays made by our teams and individuals.

Our Success Story: The Equestrian Team of Claire Farrell, Tara Walsh and Kate Walsh placed 9th in the Teams of Three Competition, a mere 50 seconds behind the first place winners! Comhgairdeas a chailíní!

At the 2013 All-Ireland Interschools Hunter Trials, the school was represented by one team of 3. This year six teams of 3 and 5 individuals entered the competition, a clear indication of the rise in interest in equestrian sports in the school. Thanks to the dedication of both the students and their parents (who travel with them to every event) UCT was the most represented school on the day!

The ability, discipline & professionalism of the equestrian teams is exceptional. The students conducted themselves in a mature manner throughout the day, doing both themselves and the school proud.

There has been huge interest in showjumping this year, with competitions taking place nationwide each weekend of the academic calendar.
